Iron Maiden - When The Wild Wind Blows

 

 

아이언 메이든(Iron Maiden)은 1975년 베이시스트이자 작곡가인 스티브해리스에 의해 결성된 영국의 헤비메탈 밴드이다. 이 밴드의 음반은 16장의 스튜디오 음반, 13장의 라이브 음반, 4장의 EP, 7장의 컴필레이션 음반 등 40장의 음반이 있다.  3인이 동시에 연주하는 트리플 기타 시스템을 도입한 이밴드는 대곡 명곡 음악 제조기라고 부를 만큼의 무게를 지닌 밴드라는 정평이 나있고 후대 메탈밴드들에게 큰 영향력을 준 위대한 밴드다.

When The Wild Wind Blows는  2010년 8월 13일에 발매된 그들의 15번째 앨범 The Final Frontier에 수록한곡이다.

 

이 노래는 1982년에 발매된 소설 《바람이 불 때》를 바탕으로 한 것이다. 이 소설은 1986년 반전 애니메이션 영화로 개봉되었다.  영화의 스토리는 자연재해로 모든 게 끝날 것이라고 철썩같이 믿었던 사람들이 대재앙을 대비하기 위해 모여서 종말을 기다리는데, 재해가 지나간 후 그들을 찾았을 때는 이미 독극물로 자살한 후였고 그들이 예고하던 대재앙은 지진을 낙진으로 오인해 생긴 일이고 단지 거친 바람이 불던 날이었다.

 

바로 이 소설과 영화의 영감을 바탕으로 이팀의 리더 스티브 해리스가 작곡했다.
